What is the Object Relations?
Lee Moo-Suk

Abstract
Arlow J(1980) insist that the mental representations are the fundamental reason of the human reaction to the others when they love or hate him/her. In fact, one meet one¡¯s own representation of other when he meet other. It is the psychological reality. Furthermore, the representations of other are frequently distorted by unconscious fatasies. The psychoanalytical theory which discribe such aspect of human interaction is the object relations. The author reviewed the core concepts of the object relations theory such as introjection, internal object representation, internal object relations, externalisation and transference in regard to the clinical illustrations. The author also introduce Freud¡¯s papers of ¡¯Narcissism¡¯ and ¡¯Mourning and Melancholia¡¯ which discribed the insight of internal object relations prior to the other papers of British theorists of object relations.
